Since 2012, Johan Advisors has provided executive coaching and management consulting services.

Meet Jay Fehnel

Johan Advisors is led by its principal and owner, Jay Fehnel, following his successful career as a corporate executive and board member.

As an executive coach and strategy advisor, Jay combines his business acumen with formal training and accreditation in leadership coaching. Jay is certified as a leadership coach by Georgetown University's Institute for Transformational Leadership and holds the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential granted by the International Coach Federation (ICF).

Throughout his career, Jay has helped companies and their leaders transform and grow.

                                     Jay Fehnel

Jay has led teams from three to 550 colleagues, serving over 4,000 customers in 40 countries. He has managed P&L’s for businesses ranging from start-ups to $90 million in annual revenue.

He has led executive leadership teams encompassing Sales, Marketing, Operations, Software Development, Technology, Finance, Human Resources and Customer Care.  

Jay has experience leading global businesses spanning many business models, including: database aggregation and licensing, web and magazine publishing, advertising sales, marketing services, retail and e-commerce.  

Jay held the roles of SVP/COO, VP/GM and VP/Business Development at Tribune Media Services (TMS, now known as Gracenote), when it was part of Fortune 500-member Tribune Company. During his tenure, profits grew 28x. The business was sold to Nielsen in 2017 for $560 million.  

Jay served six years as a Board Director for Yellowbrix, Inc., a web-based content aggregator, backed by the venture capital groups of Soros and ABN Amro. He also held executive strategy and integrated marketing roles at Redbox and early-career roles at Disney Consumer Products, NBC and Katz Communications.  

Jay earned an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. He holds a BA from Purdue University, where he has served on advisory boards for over 20 years. Jay is also a graduate of Georgetown University's Leadership Coaching certificate program and holds the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) designation from the International Coach Federation (ICF)

Jay is a frequent speaker, moderator, panelist and mentor for industry conferences and universities -- including Krannert Executive Forum; Digital Hollywood; E-mail Marketing Summit; Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities; “The Launch” college- prep program; and entrepreneurship and communication classes at Northwestern, Purdue and DePaul universities.
